For someone as obsessed with makeup as I am I own very few palettes. Whether it´s eyeshadow or highlighter I can neatly fit all my palettes in just one tiny drawer. Yet, I've recently had more time to do my makeup and actually started using the palettes I own much more. That way I discovered these 4 oh-so-dreamy palettes that I've absolutely loved working with almost everyday! All of them are perfect in their own way and help me create gorgeous looks for day and night.

I finally got my first ever Anastasia Beverly Hills product with the Glow Kit in Sun Dipped and I'm so in love with it. It got this in the sale sometime late last year and I think in general the palette is a bit too dark for my pale skin but how could I say no to 40% off?! Summer and Moonstone actually work really well for my skin. Summer ist a really gorgeous cream coloured highlight that makes every look a little more glamorous. Moonstone has this gorgeous pale pink undertone and works perfectly on my cool/neutral pale skin for a natural glow. I think in the summer Tourmaline (a violet highlight) and Bronzed (a bronze metallic shimmer) will look gorgeous too if I apply them with a light hand.

All shades are so super buttery soft and so amazingly pigmented. Also they're really shimmery and not at all glittery which is awesome as it means they last longer on my face. The quality of these speaks for itself - no wonder everyone has been going crazy over the Glow Kits! It´s just such a gorgeous palette that I grab almost every morning when I'm doing my morning. I might also take it out of my drawer just to look at it (can´t you tell I'm in love?!). It definitely ensures that my skin looks perfect and is glowing.

I'm such a fan of neutral eye makeup and the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette is absolutely perfect for this. Featuring lots and lots of brown neutral shades in matte and shimmer and a few more extravagant glitters too. This is the one palette I always take with me on vacation as it´s so easy to create so many different looks with it - whether you want to haven an everyday or statement look. Plus, you really have every shade (transition or accent) you could need in matte and shimmer. This might be the one palette I couldn't live with out.

The quality of the shadows is great, too! The mattes and shimmers are buttery soft and so easy to blend - the only thing they might lack a tiny bit is pigmentation. But the shades are super buildable so you get exactly the amount of colour you want. Also I'm complaining on a very high level here as the pigmentation is still better than most drugstore palettes I own! The glitter shades are a bit rougher around the edges (literally) but still feel very great and can be easily blended out as well. My favourite shades are definitely Marzipan and Creme Brulée as they are just so gorgeous in the pan and on the lid. I absolutely adore creating a look with this palette when I'm getting ready! Also the chocolate smell is an added bonus that I love!

Another first product for me is the Zoeva En Taupe Eyeshadow Palette - I know, how can I not have tried Zoeva before?! Better late than never because this palette is absolutely stunning! It features mattes and shimmers in all possible mauve/taupe shades and even one glitter shade. If you're up for a mauve look (which I often am) this is really perfect! While the shades are stunning I also find it´s the hardest palette to create very full looks with - there's just a few matte transition shades missing for me.

The quality of these feels just so high-end - I'm  truly in love. They feel butter soft, blend so easily and are really, really well pigmented. My favourite shade is - obviously - the pinkish shimmer that has this duo chrome effect that makes it look more like roségold than any eyeshadow I've had before. It´s called Handmade. For the price I was expecting a good quality palette but I got even more than that! This palette is so dreamy and even the matte shades are absolutely stunning - not one bit patchy or chalky! I love working with these shades as they make it so easy and so much fun to create new looks (even if I have to add in another transition shade from my collection)! I´ll definitely grab some more Zoeva Palettes as you get amazing quality for the price!

The other palettes have quite a heavy price tag but there are some budget palettes that are still super dreamy. One of my recent favourites is the Makeup Revolution #RevholicEyes Palette which was included in their advent calendar. It might have been exclusive to the advent calendar as I cannot find this exact one anywhere on their website. Firstly, the roségold packaging is just so pretty - MUR definitely how to catch their bloggers! The palette ist more focused around everyday looks and features glitters as well as matte shades. I say glitters because even the shimmery shades have some pretty big glitter chunks in them which makes for great accent shades! I love that the matte shades are all brown neutrals as they make great transition and base shades and then you can build up your look with the glittery shades! Also I feel like this is a palette I could've used to start out with as the sides are exactly separated in to base and accent shades - that is so helpful!

The glitter shades are absolutely gorgeous and have such great quality. They feel buttery soft and are really well pigmented and blend out super easily. I absolutely adore working with them. The matte shades are a slightly different story, sadly. They feel a little bit chalky and are definitely not as pigmented. However, you can definitely build up the colour and with a good brush they're not too hard to blend out either. Plus, I find them really helpful for building a base for the shimmer shades. In general, it´s been my experience the matte drugstores eyeshadows are just a little harder to work with. As far as drugstore mattes go these are pretty good. As you can imagine I love the gold and pinky glitter shades the most - they absolutely make this palette the dream that it is!

I've absolutely adored working more with palettes and there are quite a few palettes that I now really, really want to add to my collection - looking at you, Tarte and Hourglass! In my experience most high-end palettes are really worth their money and often feature better quality shades than drugstore palettes - however, there are dreamy palettes to be found in the drugstore as well! Makeup Revolution is a really good drugstore brand for dreamy collections! The products are always good (even if not amazing) quality and I´d have loved to use their products as a beginner as they are very easy to work with and with the lower pigmentation you can actually experiment a lot more with them!

I've definitely found my love for palettes much more in the past few months and have used them a lot more than single products. Personally, I finally realised that palettes make it easier to create looks as many fitting shades are already packed together, just there for you to grab - how neat!

What has been the palette you've grabbed the most lately? What is one palette you're lusting after right now?

  2. I just loved reading this post! Only just discovered your blog and I really like your layout. I use my Tartelette in Bloom palette whenever I wear eyeshadow and it's such a dream to work with. It's the only high end palette that I own. From the drugstore I own one of the Maybelline ones but it's not as great.

    1. Thank you so much! ooooh, I love the look of the Tartlette in Bloom palette! Another one to add to my never ending wish list then. I do feel like with many products (but especially eyeshadow) you can really notice a difference between high-end and drugstore brands!

  4. The Zoeva palette looks really beautiful, but you're right there definitely are some transition shades missing.
