Ever since NYX finally came into German drugstores I've been a fan of their ranges. It´s one of the rare brands inside our drugstores that's cruelty-free and personally I think their products are amazing value for the drugstore price. One of their eyebrow pencils is a staple in my everyday makeup routine! Whenever I browse the NYX counter I find so many new, intriguing products. Sometimes I just can't stop myself so here's a haul I did recently and my first impression of the product.

The Soft Matte Lip Creams were one of the first products I ever tried and loved them - currently I'm usually waring other amazing matte lip products but my love for them still stands. Obviously the Soft Matte Metallic Lip Creams immediately caught my eye. I went with a more muted, pinky dark red colour called Rome. It´s a gorgeous colour I´d usually go for in autumn/winter too! It has a gorgeous metallic shimmer to it and a few glitter speckles. I love that it´s not too heavy on the metallic look and only really noticeable when the light hits it. Personally, I think that makes it a lot more wearable for me and I don't have to wait for a night out (which honestly, never happens with me) to wear it.

It has a very striking scent to it that I just can't pinpoint and I'm not sure I really like it yet. But I don't find that the scent stays after application so it´s okay. In general it feels very comfortable to wear. Once it dries matte it really doesn't budge or leave any transfer marks with I really enjoy. There's nothing to worry about with this on. A full-on day of wear will show the true longevity of it but I'm hopeful for a good 5-6 hour wear without having to touch it up. I really enjoy this more everyday look of a metallic lip.

I've been getting really into my eye makeup lately as in I'm using eyeshadow much more often. I really wanted to try out a Lid Lingerie Matte Eye Tint as a throw-on-and-be-done eye makeup. Sadly, I had to realise that the shade Lidli dries down to a much darker and stronger red on the skin. It looks like a gorgeous reddish nude in the tube. But with the much more red shade on my eyes it makes me look a little ill. It is wearable though if I go in with more nude and brown eyeshadows to tone it down a bit.

The applicator is a lot of fun and is perfectly shaped with a little curve to make applying it on your eyes a bit easer than a straight doe foot applicator. So far the application has been a bit tricky though. Maybe it´s because I don't work with much cream products but I find it a bit too sticky and it doesn't blend out very well. Or maybe I don't have fingers small enough to work well with it. It´s very opaque immediately though which is a definite bonus! It also lasted me for a full day of wear without creasing or smudging which I think would make it a great base to work other shades into! It´s a very fun colour that'll be perfect once autumn comes back around.

Going along with my newfound love for eye makeup I was finally looking for an affordable eyeshadow primer the I could use regularly. The Proof It! Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer was pretty much the only choice I had in the drugstores but I'm so glad I've got it now. It´s really easy to apply (even with a straight doe foot applicator). The liuidy and ever so slightly tan-coloured formula makes for a great, slightly sticky base that my eyeshadow sticks to much better. But it also doesn't diminish the blending properties of it!

I haven't tried wearing it in water yet (but that'll come once summer is here) but so far I'm super impressed with it. It truly has helped to bring out the colours of my eyeshadows (especially glitters) much better an to make them stay on my eyes without creasing all day. I have slightly hooded lids and usually there's always creasing at the end of the day! Ever since I got this I haven't looked back - it´s truly a new staple in my makeup routine!

NYX Powder Puff Lippie; Squad Goals

The Powder Puff Lippie in Squad Quals was intriguing to me in three ways. Firstly, the name instantly reminded me of the power puff girls - so I instantly liked it. Secondly, this shade name made me sing "Squad Quals! Stay together forever!" from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend almost immediately. I guess the fact that it´s a powder lip product and the sponge applicator are pretty interesting too. The shade is a lot more pink than the dark nude the packaging suggests - that's the one thing NYX never truly gets right. The application is very interesting. I do find that it´s a lot of work to press the product out of the sponge applicator which irritated me at first. The application is not as straight as with a normal applicator but I find that the sponge makes for a good soft edge to my lips - it´s like blending out your lip product perfectly.

The product comes out in a creamy consistency with a velvet finish immediately. It makes it very comfortable to wear although it does feel a little bit heavier than my usual lip products. I really like the finish though. I'm usually a matte gal and this is the perfect mixture of matte and glossy. That means however that the product is still smudging around during the day and transfers quite a lot. On the plus side though, this definitely prevents any creasing and I haven't found that it goes patchy. I feel this is a beautiful product overall. It´ll finish a comfy look in an instant. I think I´ll love it even more in spring as it looks so effortless!

Last stammer I absolutely adored the Urban Decay setting spray but since I heard so many great things about the ones by NYX as well. I chose the Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray over the dewy version as I personally prefer a matte look. It comes out as a prettyy fine but still very wett mist - definitely be carful that you don't hold it too close to your face or you'll feel like you've just stepped out of the shower. That's definitely manageable though.

The setting spray has definitely helped make my makeup stay flawless a little while longer although it doesn't prevent major creasing for the whole day. Most parts of my makeup do look so good at the end of the day though. Especially my normal skin on my cheeks looks flawless even after 8 hours of work. I love that the matte finish (yes, it truly is matte) doesn't dim my highlight though - that would've been truly devastating. So far it has really impressed me by making my makeup stay on my face and stay matte longer. The summer will truly show its worth but I'm already tempted to get the dewy version as well.

As per usual I'm super impressed with these products. I know the setting spray and the eyeshadow primer will be staples in my routine from here on out (especially in summer). I feel like the three other products will be so much fun to work with. They're definitely more fitting in the autumn season though I know that I´ll love a dark metallic lip as an accent even in summer! I'm really excited to incorporate a bit more interesting finishes into my go-to products - not everything always has to be matte, right?

What are your favourite NYX products? Anything I should definitely try?
