Tanya Burr Cosmetics - Review

I really can´t help it but I´m just such a sucker for packaging. So when I spottet the gorgeous new packaging of Tanya Burr´s makeup range I absolutely fell in love. For the longest time I couldn´t get my hands on the shades I so badly wanted though - insert super sad emoji. However, last month they finally were in stock! I went ahead and picked up three products that I hadn´t tried before. Here are my thoughts on the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Lipstick, Tanya Burr Cosmetics Soft Luxe Lip Gloss and Tanya Burr Cosmetics Illuminating Powder.

Packaging

It´s quite obvious that I absolutely adore the packaging of all three products. Metallic is just my thing - book that under blogger cliches - but it´s true. Personally, I often prefer rose gold but I also love the classic and chic look of the gold accents here. The packaging of the Illuminating Powder and Lip Gloss feel a little cheap and easy to break. The Lipstick on the other hand has a really nice weight to it that makes it feel very high-end.  The only thing annoying with a full metallic packaging are fingerprints everywhere! Still, the packaging is absolutely stunning and definitely the one thing that instantly drew me to these products.

Soft Luxe Lip Gloss in Martha Moo

After knowing that I wasn´t the biggest fan of Tanya Burr´s original lip glosses - as you can read in my first impression of Tanya Burr Cosmetics - I was hoping the matte version would win me over. Sadly, this hasn´t been the case. Firstly, let´s mention the positive things though: The colour is absolutely gorgeous. It´s a dark rose nude but comes out much pinker than I´d have expected. It has some amazing pigmentation which makes appliance such an easy job!

However, the name of the product already gives away my biggest problem with it: It has the formula of a lip gloss. It has a really thick consistency and applies a little streaky (which mostly dries away though). The formula is also really sticky which makes it really uncomfortable to wear - for me at least. Plus, that way the lip gloss really sits down in any of my lip creases, no matter how small they are. It also makes the lip gloss bleed a lot and when you press your lips together it goes patchy instantly. On the plus side, the sticky formula also really sticks to your lips as it does stay on for quite a long time! I´m super sad though as it is such a gorgeous shade but I know I just won´t wear it a lot as I don´t feel comfortable with it.

Lipstick in Pink Cocoa

I´m really not one to wear a lot of "normal" lipsticks - I´m more of a liquid lipsticks gal - but with a packaging this gorgeous and a shade that I don´t have many lipsticks of I thought this would be a really cool experiment. Luckily, I was so right about that. Pink Cocoa is a light brown nude with a very subtle pink hue - exactly what you´d expect with a name like that. It´s a generally easy to wear colour as it goes with just about anything. Also it has a gorgeous shine to it. It applies super soft and easy and is really well pigmented. It also feels very lightweight and comfortable on my lips. I haven´t noticed much - if any at all - bleeding around the edges. It even survives some light eating and drinking before fading away. It really creates a smooth look that can last up to 4 hours before needing a touch up. When it does fade away it does so very subtly as it´s a really natural colours on my lips. I´m very impressed with this lipstick and how long it lasts!

Illuminating Powder in Peonies Please

As far as I know the Illuminating Powders are a new release and all three shades are absolutely stunning. I decided to go for Peonies Please - a gorgeous shimmery pink - as I already own a lot of "true highlighter" shades. For the drugstore price of this I really wasn´t expecting more than a subtle rosy glow but oh boy, was I wrong. It actually has a pretty amazing pigmentation so that you can even use this as shimmer blush. I´d say the pink is almost too strong to wear it only as a highlighter. It also is a true shimmer  with only very tiny glitter particles in it and it really makes my face glow. You could easily use this all over your cheeks and have blush and highlighter in one. I´ve also used it to blend my matte blush into a highlighter which made for a gorgeous and strong highlight!

As I have combination skin my cheeks usually fall into the "normal skin" category which made this product last for 9+ hours without touching up and only slight fading. I haven´t really checked on it after that but after 14 hours of constant wear and no touching up it had faded away. That´s a pretty amazing lasting time and I´m absolutely in love with this product. I have taken it with me on my summer holiday - on which I am right now - and it has simplified my makeup routine here so much and looks absolutely gorgeous!

I´m absolutely impressed with the Lipstick and Illuminating Powder and have both on holiday with me. Firstly, because the make for amazing instagram posts; secondly, as they easily create such an effortless but really put-together look! I´m kind of sad though that the Lip Gloss formula isn´t closer to a true liquid lipstick. I guess though that it´s definitely something you could wear with a great lip liner underneath if you don´t mind the sticky feeling- which sadly, I do very much!
Overall though I´d say that two amazing products out of three is a really good quota. Plus, I´m very much tempted to buy more lipsticks and illuminating powders as both have other gorgeous shades available.

Have you tried any of these products already? What do you think of the Soft Luxe Lip Gloss - Are my lips just weird?

  2. I haven't tried any of Tanya Burr's new products although I got my best friend one of her lipsticks and she loved it - it was a gorgeous red. The illuminating powder looks amazing, I might give it a try. I'm not a fan of lip glosses in general, I just don't like the feeling on my lips. I think I'll probably end up purchasing the lipstick I got for my friend, I just love the colour xx

  3. I've got one of Tanya's lipsticks as well and I agree that the packaging makes it feel really high end! I was super impressed with the formula too. The shade I have is Bear Hug and I think it's an awesome every day shade :)
