Natural Makeup Favourites

I´m not really often in the mood to do a full and extravagant makeup look. They´re super fun to create but as I mentioned many times on this blog I´m just to lazy to do this every morning (also sleep is everything!). While I do love feeling a bit more extravagant from time to time I also really enjoy being my down-to-earth self. That´s why you´ll find me mostly wearing a very natural look - which one of my friends recently complimented me on (thanks again *blushes*). Over the years and especially recently I´ve acquired a few favourite makeup items that I´m likely to grab when I go for my natural look.

Starting off with the newest addition to my makeup collection, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation has become a favourite of mine in the blink of an eye. I wore it for a week and was head over heels in love. It´s super lightweight but still has a medium coverage to even out my whole skin. Plus, it makes my skin feel super soft and once it´s set there´s only little that will make it smudge or transfer. Also since this foundation has been matched to my skin tone it does look really natural which I absolutely adore!

But as soon as I put any foundation on I look a little bit dead so blush is a most for me on any look. The Kiko Milano Less Is Better Cream Blush in 01 Impalable Rose is a gorgeous nude rose tone that blends into my skin like a dream. Less Is Better is a perfect name for this matte cream blush as the pigmentation is not the strongest. However that means it gives me the perfect flush without much effort and I could still build it up a bit more. The only thing I struggle with is the packaging as I find it hard to reach the product (despite the packaging being gorgeous!).

I´m a highlighter addict but by far my favourite one in my whole collection is the Mac Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle. Due to its gold undertone it really blends well with my skin and only the gorgeous shimmer stays. It also just goes super well with the Kiko Cream Blush. If you´ve been in the blogging world for a while you´ll have heard thousands of bloggers ranting about this highlighter so all I can really say is that it´s amazing and gorgeous. I will say though that it has quite a noticeable amount of glitter in it as well so it´s not the most subtle highlighter (which I love because I´m a highlighter gal).

As an alternative and subtler option I sometimes go for the Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette and the shade Equinox (aka the orange one) in particular. Similarly to Soft & Gentle it has a golden/orange undertone and therefore blends really nicely with my skin. The shimmer in it is really only noticeable when the lights hits it, so it´s a subtler version. I just really like how it makes my face glow despite being so subtle.

Another product that has been featured on my blog a lot lately is the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Birthday Suit Eye Palette. It really is my go-to palette for a natural and easy eye makeup. It has four beautiful nude brown shades in shimmer and matte that go together so well. The whole palette has a really amazing quality for its price with the only criticism I have being the eyeshadows creasing a bit at the end of the day. The one shade I don´t really like to use though is Cocoa Sugar as it´s quite a glittery shade and for my natural eye makeup I´d rather keep it at shimmery and matte.

One thing I noticed while browsing my makeup collection for this post is that I don´t use or own many natural lipsticks. I´m a matte girl through and through and honestly, matte shades (or dark reds) don´t really look natural to me. So, apparently my lips are the one part of my makeup where I like to go all out. However, the Kiko Milano Smart Fusion Lipstick in 405 is a totally perfect my-lips-but-better shade for me. It´s a dark, red-toned mauve shade with a shine to it and definitely not super opaque. That´s what gives it a very natural look and makes it easy to take care of as it fading away is not super noticeable.

If I had to choose one product out of these six that I wouldn´t want to live without it´s probably Soft & Gentle (which is super sad seeing as it´s also the one that´s definitely not cruelty free). But it was a very special gift from me to me (before I knew much about animal cruelty) and I fell in love the moment I first swatched it. It´s just really, really gorgeous and of an amazing quality. Honestly, for a natural makeup look I do use kind of a lot of products when I could just go with a bit of concealer and mascara and be done. But you know what? There´s nothing wrong with using a lot of products for a natural look if it makes me happy or feel more confident! (and it so does!!)

Are you more of a natural or extravagant makeup gal? What is your favourite lipstick for a natural look?
