7 TV Shows to Binge in January

Let´s be honest, January is a bitch! Statistics have shown that it´s actually the deadliest month of the year. August is the least deadliest so I´m very much looking forward to all the happiness then! But until then we´ll have to get through this. We definitely have also established that I´m a major fangirl (especially if you follow me on Twitter). You can bet I´m always watching some show on Netflix. And since January is such a downer I like to keep my binging on the happy side. So here are 7 happy tv shows that I could watch over and over again.

Castle

Richard Castle is a famous crime author and a happy coincidence puts him working with gorgeous and savvy Detective Katherine Beckett. When those two work together, no murder is left unsolved.

Despite being a crime show Castle mostly has a light, comedic undertone. The dialogue and the chemistry between Castle and Beckett (aka Caskett) as well as all the other characters is always amazing! This was one of the first tv shows I fell in love with and every time I put it on it feels like coming home. If you love crime shows and are looking for something light and fluffy Castle is definitely a must for you!

Friends

Six Friends living in New York going through thick and thin, what more could a sitcom be? Sitting in their favourite Café they talk about life, love and everything in between.

This one is definitely a classic! You´re basically guaranteed a laugh while watching Friends. I rarely laugh out loud while watching tv but I definitely do while watching Friends. I´m now on my second complete re-watch and it just doesn´t get boring! Friends is definitely a show to put on after you´ve had a bad day.

Jane The Virgin

Ever gotten a pregnancy scare? Well imagine being told you´re pregnant even though you´ve never slept with someone! That´s the exact thing that happened to Jane. Imagine the drama that ensues when she finds out that baby is from her teenage crush.

Jane The Virgin is the only telenovela I´ll ever watch. Highly dramatic, over the top and always funny. It´s one that you can´t take too seriously and I absolutely love it. This is a show for those of you that love a bit of drama in someone else´s life!

Lie To Me

Cal Lightman understands every little movement of your body more than you do yourself. He and his team investigate a variety of cases to determine whether everyone involved is telling the truth.

Depending on where you´re standing Lie To Me is definitely not the funniest show out there. Yet again, the dialogue and characters make it a lot of fun to watch. I was really intrigued by the concept of the show and the cases are always so interesting! Also this is all based on real psychological research on emotions by Paul Ekman. So for everyone interested in Psychology, it´s a must see!

Community

College is supposed to be fun and these 8 students definitely make it a lot of fun. They make a very varied and crazy study group with each of them being a bit over the top.

This show will get weird no matter what! But it´s also so much fun to watch these characters interact. They´re all a bit crazy so as a bit of a crazy person myself I really love them all. It´s so cool to see their friendship grow and follow them along on their journey. Also they get up to some crazy things like a yearly paintball match for the whole school! Community is a show for everyone with crazy dreams who likes a bit of fun!

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Ever been trapped in your room for the weekend? Kimmy Schmidt experienced something like that. After being held hostage for 15 years in a bunker Kimmy now has to adjusts to life in New York City.

I was very unsure when I first starting watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt but I quickly became to love this quirky character. It´s all a bit crazy and over the top but it´s sure to take your mind off of anything and make you feel good! I also love how Kimmy has grown over the course of 2 season! This show was created by Tina Fey so if you´re looking for a bit of funny nonsense this is one for you!

Gilmore Girls

Imagine a tiny little town with quirky characters and many celebrations. That´s Stars Hollow where Lorelei Gilmore and her teenage daughter Rory live. Gilmore Girls follows their life through family and crisis, (first) loves, breakups and bitchy classmates.

I´m fairly new to Gilmore Girls myself but when I put it on for the first time it immediately felt like coming home. The characters are so special and really lovable and even though especially because nothing much happens in every episode it is such a good show to put on in the evening and calm you down! I love each of the quirky characters so much and am so invested in all of their lives. This is one for the heart and for coming home!

Maybe I start binging so much in January because I´ve already failed my resolutions or it´s pure procrastination as January also marks the start of my exam period. Both of them would also explain the happy theme. Anyway, I love all of these shows and I´m so happy that most of them can be found on Netflix. That makes my binging way easier! The only thing missing now is a shuffle mode on there so that it´ll put on a random episode each time!

What tv show did you fall in love with lately?

*One thing I noticed writing this post was how difficult summarizing a tv show is without taking too much of the story away, so I really hope I did all the shows justice!

  11. Black Mirror...it's an awesome show on Netflix. I'm a huge Twilight Zone fan, though (plus, the concept of where tech will take us in future decades fascinates me!). I'd LOVE to watch Castle...it's only on Amazon Prime, though, right? I don't have that. I wish it were on Netflix or Hulu Plus!

    1. I´ve heard so much about Black Mirror. I´m a bit scare to watch it though as I can´t deal with anything that´s remotely in the horror genre. Somehow crime shows are totally fine though, haha. I don´t even know if Castle is on Prime (don´t have that either). It could be on Hulu Plus though! I need for it to be on Netflix as that´s the only thing I have.
