Christmas Market Inspiration: Augsburg

As you know I love my Christmas markets. Living in Germany has its perk as there is a Christmas market in every city (no matter how small it is). I basically have to restrain myself from going to every single one around here. This year my friends and I decided to visit one that is on many lists of the most beautiful German Christmas markets. So on Sunday we took the train and strolled around the Christmas market in Augsburg.

I´m going to be completely honest here and say that I found the whole Christmas market quite underwhelming. It was definitely smaller than I expected and only very few stalls had extra decorations on them (besides the Christmas lights) which I found to be disappointing. Maybe also the super grey weither made it feel not so magical (although it doesn´t show up on the pictures at all!). Nonetheless, it smelled incredible and the stalls offered such a wide selection of hot drinks like mulled wine with any fruit sirup you can imagine, hot Hugo and thousands of hot chocolate variations. Also the food was amazing. As Augsburg is way deeper in Bavaria than where I live I loved seeing more typically bavarian foods and sweets around.

Another thing I noticed was how disabled-friendly all the stalls were. There were disabled people working behind the counters, signs in braille and everywhere disabled people were just treated nicely. That´s definitely a big plus from me!

The big Christmas tree with its star on top looked really amazing! Also it had small decorations all throughout which I found so nice! Also one of the surrounding buildings had an advent calendar in its windows which is such a cool idea. The stalls were definitely typical for any Christmas market out there but  a few offered really incredible looking more extraordinary products.

Augsburg as a whole definitely made a great impression on me. Most of the building and streets we saw had this really cool vibe and mostly consisted out of beautiful older buildings. The darker it got (& the more the grey sky disappeared) the fuller the whole market got but also the better the atmosphere got. In the end I felt really content and good about being there. For me the Christmas market in Augsburg definitely developed its magic & made me leave with a big grin on my face.

Which Christmas markets have you visited/are you planning to visit this year?
