Autumn/Winter Essentials

Autumn Winter Essentials full look
The whole blogger community seemed especially excited for autumn to come this year. I was really excited too until I realised that also meant it was getting really cold really quick - why not read my Fall Fever post with all the reasons I love autumn? Also now that it´s November and we´ve crossed that magic threshold to Christmas I can´t resist listening to my Christmas playlist #notashamed. Winter is also definitely on its way which unfortunately means it´s only getting colder and darker. But don´t worry I have figured out a few ways to enjoy these seasons nonetheless and embrace their beauty. Today I´m sharing my autumn and winter essentials.

The Basics
Fashion is definitely one of my favourite parts about the seasons. I absolutely adore this year´s trends and all the darker colours coming back. Also burgundy, burgundy is my life! As much as I love summer sandals I can never resist a gorgeous ankle boot. These ones are from Gabor and have a slight hint of Western to them which I really like. They´re also super fashionable and comfy!

In any of the colder seasons I won't leave the house without my blanket scarf or my gloves. Both these beauties are from Primark and I absolutely adore them. The scarf is super soft and comfy and will definitely keep me warm. The gloves are a bargain and the thumb and pointer finger also work on phone screens which is so amazing! One last fashion trend I can´t get enough off are bobble hats. I got this beautiful one from Primark as well. I just couldn´t resist the mustard colour. It definitely keeps my ears nice and war.

When the weather gets colder and colder outside, there's nothing better than sitting inside with a hot cup of tea (or hot chocolate) and reading a book or watching your favourite tv show. I always read most in the colder months and Holding Up The Universe is next on my reading list after I´ve now finished (and loved) The Opposite of Loneliness. As for tv shows I just started watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix and absolutely love it. It so feels like a nice and easy afternoon watch and almost like coming home. Also I just found vegan chocolate-covered gingerbread and it´s so yummy!

The Beauty
A change in season goes along with a change in skincare for most people. For me a good moisturiser is definitely key. I´ve just switched to the Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturiser and so far I love it. My skin feels really soft when I use this and it hasn´t caused any breakouts yet. I also really want to transfer the beautiful summer glow into the colder seasons. One of the most beautiful highlighters for this is Mac´s Soft and Gentle. I love the gold touch and it leaves the most beautiful shimmer.

Another autumn and winter essential for me are scents. The Zoella Bake My Day Body Mist is so perfect for the cold seasons. It smells of gingerbread and vanilla and it just screams Christmas, baking and home for me. Even though I like to keep my makeup quite simple in colder months (because I´m too lazy) I´ve recently fallen in love with eyeshadows thanks to the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics which I´ve reviewed quite recently. Another palette that´s a winner for me is the Sleek i-Divine All Night Long palette. Just look at the gorgeous gold hues and the shimmery copper shade! Also the quality is really good for such a bargain palette.

Nail-wise I like to stay very classic during autumn and winter. Most of the time I just go for a classic red. I love this Kiko nail polish in 240 as it´s the perfect shade of red. Also it lasts really well and it doesn´t stain my nails. When I´m not wearing red nails, I´m definitely going for nude hues. This Trend It Up Nail Polis in 090 is the perfect pinkish-nude for my skin tone and I absolutely love it. The one makeup trend I always go for are dark lips. I´m utterly in love with the trusty Rimmel Kate Moss 107 lipstick which is the perfect mix between red and berry. A recent addition to my collection is the NYX Liquid Suede in Cherry Skies which is more of a true red. It has a wonderfully creamy formula, is really matte but not too drying on my lips.

There you have it, all the things I need to survive autumn and winter in style. Both seasons for me are mostly about staying warm as I´m always just freezing. How early I bring out my gloves, hats and blanket scarves has given me quite a few weird looks already. Or the people have just been staring at my dark lips. In the first year of university I was known as "the girl with red lips". Anyway, I still love the colder seasons just as much. No season will be absolutely perfect and with these autumn and winter essentials I´ve found my way of working with them.

What is something you definitely can´t survive the cold seasons without?

  1. The Rimmel Kate Moss 107 is probably the most talked about lipstick for autumn! I have it too and I love it! The KIKO nail polishes do not last more than two days on my nails, in fact, one pink colour lasted only a few hours before starting to chip which is a shame! x

    1. It definitely is. But it´s such a gorgeous colour, how could it not? Yes, Kiko nail polishes seem to be a hit or miss thing. I have a few amazing ones but my sister always struggles with them.

  2. I love these products you've picked out for autumn/winter! I can't believe that we've in November already, I've only just started getting excited about autumn and all of a sudden it's zero degrees outside! I would have picked these products as well, I love Sleek palettes as well as the NYX Liquid Suede range! :)

    1. Thank you. I don´t believe we´re in November already too. Same goes for me. I think it´s due to the very late summer heat wave so that actual autumn has been cut very short.

  3. Coats, scarves, jumpers and boots are definitely my outdoor autumn essentials, I love being all cosy when it's cold out. Getting dark at 4 means I'm watching so much more Netflix with blankets and fairy lights, I'm just all about the cosiness haha

  4. Yes, to all the Netflix. I´ve been so obsessed with Gilmore Girls lately & I just put it on at around 5pm, get all cosy & that´s the perfect night for me.
