Fall Fever

or: All The Reasons Why I Love Autumn

Thursday (aka today as I´m writing this) marks the calendric start of autumn. Fun fact, this is also the day of the Autumn Equinox meaning the sun passes over the equator and day and night are exactly the same length. Ever since the end of August there haven been Twitter chats, fashion trends and just general conversations that have made me so excited for autumn to finally come. I usually like to pride myself with being a pretty basic white girl, however when it comes to autumn I can´t be as basic as I want. PSLs are not vegan, candles give me headaches and I don´t have a bathtub. Can I get some pity, please? Still, I think there are so many more things in autumn that can be exciting. Here´s a list of some!

Crunchy leaves I´m basically a four-year-old child because stepping on a colourful leave and it crunching is still so satisfying to me. In general I also just love the leaves changing colours, it´s definitely the one thing that makes it really feel like autumn to me.

Fashion trends I´m all about burgundy, mustard, dusty pink and nude colours this autumn. Also blanket scarves, bobble hats and ankle boots got me really excited!

Snuggling up Give me cosy PJs, fluffy socks, a blanket, a cup of tea and my laptop (and in best case scenarios a cuddle buddy) and I´ll be at my happiest. I just love how cosy this time of the year feels.

Fairy lights I just don´t think they have the same power in summer. In autumn they contribute to making it all feel a lot more cosy for me, I´ll happily have them as my only source of light when I´m all snuggled up.

Storms As much as I love summer weather, there´s something about a storm going on outside while I´m warm and cosy inside that´s really comforting to me. You guessed it, they make everything inside a bit more cosier.

Hot Drinks While everyone´s obsessed with their PSLs I´ll be over here happily sipping my hibiscus blend tea. I got really into fruit tea last year around this time but I just never felt like having a cuppa in summer (because it was way too hot already).

Halloween I´m not much about parties and all that but I do love dressing up. I guess this comes from the years I was part of a theatre group. Also there´s so much bite sized candy around. Yum!

Sunsets With the world turning into burgundy-yellow-brown colours I think sunsets look even better. Also they´re so much easier to catch as you don´t have to stay up half the night.

Independency Autumn also means going back to uni for me. This also means I get a bit of my independency back as I can´t really on my Mom to handle everything for me.

Dark lips & nails I either wear bright pastel nails and nude lips or both in really dark colours, there is no in-between. After five months of pastels and nudes, I´m so ready for some Rimmel 107!

Bye bye insects I don´t hate insects, I know they´re very important for our eco system but there´s something about snacking something outside without being attacked by wasps that just feels so much better. Also mosquitos are nasty little beasts!

Baking, baking, baking In summer baking just doesn´t feel right. I don´t want some cake, I want ice-cream! But right now I´m actually craving cinnamon rolls and apple roses.

Movie marathons Watching my favourite movies and tv shows all day long is finally seen as normal again and I don´t feel guilty about missing out on sunshine. Duvet days, here I come!

Rose gold everything This blogger trend just isn´t dying down and I wouldn´t want it to. Rose gold also goes with all the autumnal colours so well!

Decorating A new season also means it´s time for a trip to Ikea to get all the things I need for appropriate decoration in my room.

When I say I want autumn to come I mostly mean just that exact part of autumn where the sun is still shining and everything is full of colour. For me autumn is all about the colours because I just love red, yellow and brown hues a lot. I even had my childhood room painted in red and yellow for a good ten years. So I´m basically looking forward to a small part of autumn that´ll be gone faster than it has come. Still, right now I´m very excited and that helps me get over the fact that summer really has ended.
