New Year´s Make Up

Now that Christmas is over it´s time to worry about the new year. I mean, what do you wear and what make up look do you go for? A classic red lip looks to much like Christmas but a too sparkly look just looks hideous. Then again you can´t really go without sparkle, can you? Do you see my problem? At least there is enough free time around Christmas to try some things out. That´s exactly what I did and here is my result.

Face:
L´oreal Paris Perfect match Foundation
Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer
Maybelline Jade Fit Me Concealer
Rommel London Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder
Catrice Defining Blush in 020 Rose Roye
Tanya Burr Cosmetics Peachy Glow Cheek Palette -> Champagne Shimmer

Eyes & Lips:
Maybelline Jade Shape Master
P.S. Love 8 Shade Day Eyeshadow Palette
Maybelline Jade Color Tattoo 24hr in 70 Metallic Pomegranate
Patrice Eyeconic Eye Opening Mascara
Maybelline Jade The Rocket Volum´ Express Mascara
Essence Longlasting Lipstick Nude in 05 Cool Nude

Because celebrating New Year´s Eve always means that you´re probably gonna be up all night, I wanted to create a flawless base with the L´oreal Perfect Match Foundation and my favourite concealer duo. Because I can´t look like Zombie all night, I added some glow with a shimmery pink blush from Catrice and the Tanya Burr Highlighter in Champagne Shimmer.

On the eyes I went for a simple contour in the crease and a highlight in the inner corner with the Primark Eyeshadow Palette. The colours are pigmented just right to create the base for the rest of my look. To add something special and make my eyes really pop, I used my Maybelline Color Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate as an eyeliner. Actually, Cole from Cole of the Ball introduced me to this idea on her blog and I loved it so much, I had to try it out. Because I have tiny eyelids, I couldn´t go for that big of a line but I think a really nice thick line of this would look great on everybody especially with green eyes. I do have green eyes, so I think this works pretty well for me even if I can´t do a thicker line.

Instead of going bold on the lips too, I decided to leave them very quiet. I found the perfect nude colour for my lips in the Essence Long-lasting Lipstick Nude range. It´s my exact lip colour just a bit more even and clear. I think because I took a step back on my lips, the attention is really drawn to my eyes which I really like. If you really wanted, you could definitely go with a burgundy shade on the lips as well.

I love this look for a special occasion because it doesn´t look like much until you have a closer look. But if I´m completely honest, I will spent New Year´s Eve without any make up on. A very good friend comes to visit and we´ll probably just watch films, eat all the food and catch up. I haven´t done that on New Year´s for a long time and I´m really looking forward to it.

  1. I know what you mean, sometimes finding a balance can be hard! I think you created a really nice look, and I like the thin line. I hope you and your friend have a great time catching up!

  2. Your make up looks lovely here, I like that its not too much. Your hogmanay plans sound so much fun, I always prefer a night in with friends to a night out clubbing. Have a great time when it comes. Found your blog through #girlgang
