Kiko 30 Days Extension Night Treatment Booster Review

I´m going to share a little secret with you: the thing I hate the most about my face are my eyelashes. Even though they have a pretty okay length they are just straight and have absolutely no natural curl to them. I have to curl them every morning and often that takes a big part away from the actual length. Luckily, the beauty industry has got me covered. There are a ton of eyelash serums around that are said to give you longer lashes. I get a shock every time I look at the prices. They go up to £100 easily. Imagine how glad I was when I found Kiko´s 30 Days Extension Night Treatment Booster for just £7.50. For me it was just £3 because they had a special offer for mascaras that day. I do have to admit I was a bit skeptical towards this product.

In a small box you get the actual treatment as well as a paper giving you instructions and explaining their product. I think this is a great idea. Also the little box makes it feel more special than just an average mascara. The packaging for the treatment is a typical for a mascara but it doesn´t feel cheap. I love the combination of black and gold because it looks so high end. The wand is advertised as being a special elastomer type that allows measured dosage and uniform application from root to tip. I haven´t really found anything special to it except for it being a tiny bit flexible. Other than that it´s just a straight plastic wand. That also means that application is pretty easy. I´d say it´s a bit easier than normal mascara as you don´t have to worry about getting it all over your eyes. Personally, I found that the wand doesn´t separate my lashes well and that I can´t reach the lashes in the inner corner.

I´m just going to try and explain to you really quickly how this product works. Basically, your eyelashes grow constantly over the course of 4 to 8 weeks until they fall out. This gel has the K2 pro-growth complex that is an innovative pool of ingredients that enhance the natural grout and diameter of eyelashes. It can be seen as a supplement for your eyelashes. It´s like using products that enhances your normal hair growth. It´s supposed to stimulate the roots or your eyelashes. The gel needs to be applied for 30 days in a row in order to work as then many of your eyelashes will have gone a full cycle. How the K2 pro-growth complex actually works on the lashes to enhance the length is stated nowhere.

In the little paper it is also mentioned that a clinical-instrumental test was done on 20 women and that they had a better length after 30 days in comparism to a placebo. As a psychology student I know my fair share of statistics and this just made me even more skeptical. A good clinical trial uses at least 30 people if not more to get an accurate representation of the underlying population. Also nothing on this little paper states if the outcome was even significant which is another important aspect. If you don´t have a good clinical trial, you should leave it out.

The product itself is a clear gel. I´ve found that it kind of stinks although I got used to it and luckily, lashes are not too close to the nose. The gel isn´t really sticky but it does stick some lashes together due to the wand not doing a good job separating them. It makes the lashes feel like your hair when it dries after being in salt water. The gel takes quite a while to fully dry which can be annoying as you should´t look up during that time, so that the product stays on your lashes. I will say that I actually noticed a change in the length of my lashes. It´s a small change and it´s not as big as I expected it to be in the beginning but in the end I was just surprised to see any change. I am not sure if there was an actual improvement or if it is all just in my head because the pictures show now difference. I do know that it didn´t do much on thickening my lashes or giving them more volume.

I´ve noticed that I had gaps in my lashes where more than one lash had fallen out. I do get this normally sometimes but never before did I have it on both eyes simultaneously. I guess the treatment is to be blamed for it. This also shows that the booster doesn´t make the lashes grow faster as they grew back just as fast as they normally do. I think you get a good amount of product for your money. I used it every night for 30 days and I still have some left.

Overall, the treatment isn´t the best. Even though it´s also easy to apply and doesn´t take much effort if you can remember to do it. But then again, that´s how all the treatments are applied. There´s also a mascara with the same ingredient to go with this. So maybe the combination works better. After all, I would rather save up my money and buy myself one of the expensive serums. My best friend has one of those and her lashes go up to her eyebrows now.

  1. This product sounds super exciting with all the fancy ingredients! Too bad that it didn't live up to expectations. Also a bit scary that they make your lashes fall out. :S

    1. That´s my exact thought. I was so interested to try it out and now I´m just quite sad about it. I´ve stopped using it everyday now and no more lashes have fallen out, so it seems to be this product.

  2. I've never actually heard of eye lash serums working that well, so I've always given them a miss. It's cool that your friend has seen results with one of the more expensive ones though, maybe they do work then. My friend has been using caster oil on her lashes for a few months and her lashes almost go up to her eyebrows, they're so long - ive been meaning to try it but I'm so bad with keeping up with treatments like that aha!

    1. I was always very skeptical towards these serums. I´m very jealous of my best friend for being able to afford her serum. Caster oil sounds like a good idea. It gets kind of hard to keep up with it every night. I´ve noticed that I´m now just doing it every few days.

    1. Usually I love Kiko products. That´s why I was intrigued to try this. I´m actually not sure which one she´s using. I know it´s about £120, so I didn´t ask further. If you want to know exactly, tell me on Twitter and I´ll ask her.

  4. This product doesn't sound the best, maybe it is better to save up and invest in better serum for your lashes.

    1. Thank you. I hate writing bad reviews but I also want to be honest and tell people which products not to buy. I think saving up is the best way especially since I´ve seen my best friend´s lashes.

  6. Thank you for your review of the KIKO 30 DAYS EXTENSION - NIGHT TREATMENT BOOSTER. You just saved me some money. I hear that some of the really expensive lash serums work, but I just can't spend over $100. I wish there were more affordable lash serums that work. I will not waste my money on this Kiko product.
