Fashion Favorite: Blanket Scarves

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons when it comes to fashion. I love jumpers, scarves and getting cosy even more than all the pretty summer outfits. One trend I am adoring this year are blanket scarves. I´ve seen a lot of them online and while I was out shopping. They are just so cosy and comfortable while still looking very fashionable. That´s perfect for autumn and winter!

Apparently, this has been a trend last year as well but it must have slipped right past me. This year the  oversized scarves are a must-have accessory for me. They are not only oversized, you could literally use them as a blanket if it´s necessary. It´s a added bonus that they keep you very warm. Evenings in autumn are often ice cold even after a hot day. A blanket scarf will definitely keep you warm when you´re hanging out in the evening.

Also there are a 1000 and one ways to wear them. You can easily find a great selection of styles on other blogs. My favorites include using them as a poncho or vest, letting them hang loosely from my neck and wearing them just like a normal scarf. With their pretty patterns they can make every outfit look more sophisticated. If you´re having a lazy day and are wearing just a pair of jeans and a plain jumper, throw a blanket scarf over and you´ve got yourself a stylish autumnal outfit. Amazing, right?

Currently I own two blanket scarves which are both from Primark. The first and slightly bigger one is double-sided with one side being a red, blue and black plaid and the other being houndstooth patterned. The second one is in a light grey with a pink, mint and dark grey plaid. Both of them are really soft and definitely big enough for me. I´ve noticed that it´s really hard to find blanket scarves that are soft, big enough, pretty and affordable in shops. There might be more online that fit the criteria though. I´ve seen some really pretty and affordable ones on Asos that I think I might get. By the end of winter I will probably own a whole closet full of blanket scarves. I really just love them.

I am so looking forward to sunny and mild autumn days where I can get away with wearing blanket scarves instead of jackets. On ice cold, clear winter days they´ll definitely keep me warm underneath my coat. If my outfit doesn´t fit them, I can still get away with wearing them inside for coziness.

  1. Love this trend, I need to try it out. It looks so cosy, especially the idea of using them as a blanket, that would come in handy when college forgets to put the heating on xx

    1. Using them as a blanket is the best. I´ve been spending every evening with one as a blanket. I´m sure they´ll keep you warm and cosy in college.

    1. I really hope the trend stays for a few more years because it´s so perfect for the weather. With other autumn trends I often get cold when I am outside too long.

    1. Thank you. :) I guess you could still wear them even if you don´t get autumn where you live. I would just use a simple top instead of a shirt.

  4. I bought a couple of blanket wraps and scarfs last year as it was a huge trend. The best ones are available at New Look and also at Stradivarius (sister brand of Zara). If you get a bigger blanket you can nicely tailor it with a belt. Congrats on your new layout and blog design. It looks fresh and neat. Love it xxx

    1. I must have completely missed that trend. Maybe I was too busy with starting at uni. I will definitely have a look around both of those shops, thanks for the tip.
      Thank you! :)
